Well I recently added a new first to my ever-extending list: Yeah, you read that right. The name cards with the faces and names of famous people who inspired me. Some cards were of famous celebrities which would be fun or funny for parents to introduce themselves as; others took on a more serious note which I hoped might strike an interest in multi-culturalism. A lot of this is due to the reputation Korea has towards Black people. And some of it is due to perception of Black people that has been given to Korean people. But what is the truth about modern Korean culture and the younger generation? Does Korea play a role in Blasian society today? Stories of Korean children feeling that Black people have tails that grow at night have been spread on teacher forums on the internet.

He managed to salvage something from the fustercluck by writing about the experience here. I seem to remember something similar occurring in Seoul when I worked at a hagwon over ten years ago.
It may have been organized by the hagwon owner’s association or perhaps by the local district. I was told I had to attend the training session early on a Saturday morning. I believe we were told it was mandatory. I told my boss I’d try to make it. I didn’t try very hard, and never heard a thing back about my absence.
I read later or perhaps it was about a similar such session of teachers being told to salute the Korean flag, and a few teachers complied There has been a legal basis for such training sessions for years now.

So luckily, you are never expected to prepare tests or grade homework. My school was really lenient when it came to vacation time, and other people I know had a stricter schedule. But generally speaking, you will be entitled to all of these benefits.
